Since surgery, a year ago, I have been having increasing pain in my tailbone area. At first I thought nothing of it, and figured I was just sitting too much. But as the pain increase, inexplicably I started to worry. Here is a MRI of my tailbone in September 2014: Went to the primary care doctor (Dr. Jetpuri at UTSW). She recommended an x-ray (for fractures...really?) and physical therapy. The x-ray was clean, just normal wear-and-tare. The PT gave me excersizes to do. Unfortunately, the pain doesn't seem to be going away. I met with the primary care doctor again in late Jan., 2015 and she recommended to go to an orthopedic surgeon. I am not sure this will be worthwhile so I am going to see if it goes away with more time... Well the neuosurgeon suggested another lumbar MRI in July 2015, and referred me to a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) doc - who referred me to physical therapy. Based on the MRI below, it appears I have fatty deposits in multiple lumbar vertebrae and disk bulging in 3 intervertebral disk spaces (between L3-4, L4-5, and L5-S1). So it turns out that my intense lower left back pain, which comes on in the afternoon, may not be cancer related but rather due to nerve impingement. Which is partially good...I guess.
